Bonus language / decoded

The terms are the product.

Eight definitions that expose what an offer really asks you to risk. Read these before depositing, then put the numbers through the calculator.

01 / term

Wagering requirement

How much qualifying play is required before bonus funds or winnings can be withdrawn.

Example: A £100 bonus with 10× bonus wagering requires £1,000 of qualifying stakes.

Check: Confirm whether the multiplier applies to the bonus only or to deposit plus bonus.

02 / term

RTP

Return to player: the theoretical percentage a game returns over a very large number of plays.

Example: A 96% RTP corresponds to a 4% theoretical house edge.

Check: Use the RTP shown inside the game. The same title can exist in more than one RTP version.

03 / term

Game contribution

The percentage of each bet that counts towards completing wagering.

Example: At 25% contribution, £1 staked moves the wagering meter by only 25p.

Check: Read the eligible-games section. A low contribution can multiply the real play-through.

04 / term

Expected value

The average mathematical value across many identical attempts—not a prediction of one result.

Example: A £100 bonus requiring £1,000 of stakes at a 4% edge has a simplified value near £60.

Check: EV does not remove volatility or the chance of finishing with nothing.

05 / term

Maximum cashout

A limit on how much can be withdrawn from bonus play, even when the balance is higher.

Example: A £100 cap means any eligible balance above £100 may not be withdrawable.

Check: Look for separate limits on free spins, no-deposit bonuses and deposit matches.

06 / term

Sticky bonus

A bonus amount that forms part of the playing balance but cannot itself be withdrawn.

Example: If £100 is sticky, only eligible winnings above the non-withdrawable amount may be cashable.

Check: Confirm exactly what is removed when a withdrawal is requested.

07 / term

Qualifying deposit

The minimum or specific deposit needed to activate an offer.

Example: An offer may advertise free spins but require a £10 cash deposit first.

Check: Check eligible payment methods; some methods may not qualify.

08 / term

Expiry

The time allowed to claim, use or complete an offer.

Example: Spins may expire separately from the resulting bonus balance.

Check: Record the claim deadline and wagering deadline—they may be different.
